Diskodiktator – Det trötta hatets stad

Diskodiktator return to the spotlight with the CD “Det trötta hatets stad”, a standalone continuation of their 2014 release “Malmö C”. The new album expands their trademark blend of electronic pop, urban storytelling, and wry social observation into a broader, more textured portrait of life in and around Malmö.

Most of the album’s lyrics and music are written by Johan Billing, with two guest writers adding unique perspectives:
Bob Nimbe of Maskinpop contributes the sharply humorous and chaotic monologue “Den lomhörda rebellen”, centered on a would‑be revolutionary who quite literally can’t hear when the uprising begins.
Roger Tell of Vogon Poetry penned the lyrics for “Mina kvarter”, a warm and nostalgic journey through childhood streets, memories, and the synth-pop soundtracks that shaped them. John Svensson of the same band provided the vocals. This song was reworked by Vogon Poetry and released as a single, but on this CD is the original version.

The previous singles “Jag river ditt namn” and “Finast” have been reworked for the album and are finally presented in their intended form.

Across the album, Diskodiktator explore themes of memory, community, social anxiety, and the sometimes-absurd theatre of everyday life. Malmö appears both as landscape and character – restless, loud, tender, and full of contradictions. Political saturation, personal scars, and the humor found in imperfection weave together into a distinctly Swedish form of electronic storytelling.

“Det trötta hatets stad” is released primarily on CD featuring exclusive bonus tracks, with a slightly shortened digital version available as well. All tracks (except the bonus tracks) were carefully mastered by Brian Hazard (Color Theory) to meet and exceed the quality required by any informed listener.
