It doesn’t happen every so often but finally Quelles Paroles returns with a new sign of life; the brand new single “Black Suit”. The single contains the title track plus a very extended remix by Diskodiktator. Here’s a link to the single on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/1GB06Ddk8Dnxptxqup7I6H
Diskodiktator continue their epic journey into the abyss of classic Swedish 1990’s albums and this time it happened to become a tribute to the 1995 S.P.O.C.K album “Alien Worlds”. Naturally we think it’s great but we are not alone. The music blog Cold War Night Life has this to say: What made the original S.P.O.C.K songs so enduring was composer Eddie Bengtsson’s instinctive feel for pop structures, which were OMD-class, even if the subjects were lifted from cult sci-fi. Slowed down and put into another mode, they can start to sound less iconic than ironic, but there are clever moments here: Billing is a talented programmer and performer, and on tracks like “Astro Girl” he provides a setting that is closer to R&B than classic poptronica. http://www.coldwarnightlife.com/reviews/diskodiktator-revisits-alien-worlds/
After several months with very little activity the Electric Fantastic Sound label suddenly bursts into hyper active mode in the late spring of 2015: The debut album from PMtoyou has already been announced, there is also a brand new album by Anton Weber coming in late May. As if that wasn’t enough Diskodiktator releases another issue in their series of let’s-cover-a-whole-album with the second album by original space pop giants S.P.O.C.K entitled “Alien Alien Worlds” in early June (on the 6th day of June in fact). Later on this summer we’ll also see a new EP from Topgun and there is even talk of new material from Quelles Paroles! Keep an eye out for more!
Our friends over at Release Music Magazine has written a review of the new Diskodiktator album – read it by clicking here! I really like this new version of Diskodiktator, it’s refreshing to hear an album that is this personal and honest. Far too few bands here in Sweden choose to sing in Swedish but it adds a nice touch, especially when you write lyrics like this.
